Riding the Waves for a Cleaner Tomorrow

Riding the Waves for a Cleaner Tomorrow

It was a fun and productive weekend in San Vicente, Palawan! Last September 28–29, 2025, various organizations teamed up to bring excitement and purpose together while taking care of our planet while having fun. Participating groups included Katang Surf, The Good News, and partners Kilos Kabataan para sa Kalikasan, Chill TV, and Truepang Hamog, supported by Saving Daigdig Project.

Coastal cleanup has always been a shared mission among these organizations. For Saving Daigdig Project, the goal is to form a community where people share the same advocacy of caring for our home — the Earth. And that’s exactly what happened. Saving Daigdig collaborated with various partners to build a team and a movement united for a cleaner planet.

This weekend wasn’t just any other planet cleanup — thanks to Katang Surf, a mini surfing competition was also held! Surfers showed off their talent and skill on the waves of Palawan, bringing joy to both participants and spectators. The competition gave surfers an opportunity to share their passion with the community while subtly promoting the importance of clean waters to create safe, clear waves for everyone to enjoy. It served as a reminder that the sea is our home, just as it is for plants, trees, and marine life, and that its beauty shines brightest when it’s clean and healthy.

Next came the planet cleanup, led by The Good News and its Palawan representatives, alongside Saving Daigdig Project. Together, they continued their ongoing initiative of collecting waste across the island while building unity as one community. People came together to act as one team while carrying the advocacy of a clean, healthy environment and paving the way for a sustainable future. Once again, it was a successful mission, with numerous sacks of waste collected, properly segregated, and recycled to give discarded materials a new purpose.

What better way to cap off a weekend of surfing and cleanup than by sharing a meal with your peers? The feeling of fulfillment and accomplishment was joyfully celebrated with our partners and volunteers. Thanks to everyone’s effort, San Vicente, Palawan is now more beautiful than ever. Their mission didn’t just help one area but inspired other communities as well, raising awareness about the importance of ocean cleanups and a sustainable future.

On behalf of Saving Daigdig Project, The Good News, Katang Surf, Kilos Kabataan para sa Kalikasan, Chill TV, and Truepang Hamog, a big thank you to each and every one of you! Thank you for supporting our cause. Until the next mission!
