Turning Plastic into Purpose: Coastal Cleanup in Mabini, Batangas
On June 28, 2025, Saving Daigdig Project worked together with SISEAD, Palit Plastic, Bigas, Harong Magwayen, Marine Education and Preservation Institute for a successful coastal clean-up in Balanoy, Mabini, Batangas. Over 100 volunteers came together with a shared mission: to protect marine life, reduce plastic waste, and inspire action for cleaner oceans.
Batangas is known for its scenic beaches, but pollution often clouds its natural beauty. That’s why initiatives like this are so important; together with everyone’s combined efforts, more than 200 kilograms of plastic waste were collected in a single day.
What made this event even more impactful was the support from those who couldn’t be there physically. Through donations and product purchases, supporters helped fund the clean-up, covering costs for transportation, gear, and materials. It was proof that meaningful change can come from both action and generosity.
The reach of the project extended far beyond the coastline. By utilizing social media, the message was able to spread across the country, raising awareness about ocean pollution and mobilizing more people to care. From young children to adults, the event saw participants of all ages stepping up to protect our daigdig.
A special moment from the day was the presence of actor Pepe Herrera, whose enthusiasm and advocacy added joy and inspiration to the campaign. His involvement reminded everyone how powerful public support can be in driving change.
This clean-up is just one of many steps in our ongoing mission. Together, we can restore our oceans to their original beauty, where both people and marine life can thrive.
